Search

Kovu extraOn by default

Look things up without leaving Discord: Wikipedia, Urban Dictionary, anime and manga from AniList, weather from Open-Meteo, a dictionary, YouTube and translation. Every source can be turned off.

Set it up

  1. Open the dashboard and pick your server. Sign in with Discord if you haven’t.

  2. Find Search in the sidebar. It’s already on in new servers.

  3. Go through the settings below. Simple mode shows the essentials; switch to Advanced for the rest.

  4. Try it in Discord: /anime. Staff can restrict or turn off each command in Commands.

Tips

  • Urban Dictionary only answers in age-restricted channels unless you allow it elsewhere.
  • YouTube and translation work when the bot’s host has set them up.

Settings

What you’ll find on the Search page of the dashboard. Settings marked Advanced only show in Advanced mode.

Searches

Turn each search on or off. Turned-off searches tell members they’re off.

Wikipedia
On/off/search wiki and ?wiki: an article summary with a link.
Urban Dictionary
On/off/search urban and ?urban: slang definitions. See Safety below.
Anime and manga
On/off/search anime, /search manga, ?anime and ?manga (AniList).
Weather
On/off/search weather and ?weather: the weather now and a 3-day forecast.
Dictionary
On/off/search define and ?define: English definitions and examples.
YouTube
On/off/search youtube and ?yt. Works when the bot’s host has set up a YouTube API key.
Translate
On/off/search translate and ?translate. Works when the bot’s host has set up a translation server.

Safety

Age-restricted results only ever show in age-restricted channels.

Allow Urban Dictionary outside age-restricted channels
On/offOff: Urban Dictionary only answers in age-restricted channels. On: it answers anywhere, and outside age-restricted channels definitions with explicit words are skipped.
Adult results in age-restricted channelsAdvanced
On/offUnfiltered Urban Dictionary, adult anime and manga, and YouTube’s moderate SafeSearch, only in age-restricted channels. Everywhere else results are always filtered.

Weather

Units
ChoiceMetric shows °C, km/h and mm; imperial shows °F, mph and inches.

LanguagesAdvanced

Wikipedia language
ChoiceWhich Wikipedia to search. Automatic follows the server’s language.
Translate into
ChoiceThe default language for /search translate. Automatic follows the server’s language. Members can pick another each time.
