Is Kovu really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every module and every command is free in every server right now, during early access, with no locked features. The only limits are generous anti-abuse caps, such as 500 custom commands per server. If paid options are ever introduced, we’ll announce them in advance, and we won’t take away today’s free features without notice.

How does Kovu make money?

Accepted Answer

It doesn’t yet. Kovu runs on low-cost infrastructure, which keeps it free while we grow. There are no ads, and we won’t sell your data.

Does Kovu have the features Dyno Premium charges for?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Custom bot identity, higher limits, extra automod filters, custom welcome images and the rest are part of Kovu for every server, free today. See the comparison page for the full list.

Which permissions does Kovu need?

Accepted Answer

The invite asks for the permissions the modules use, like Manage Roles for autoroles and Ban Members for moderation. Kovu can only manage roles below its own highest role, so move the Kovu role above the roles it should hand out.

Who can change Kovu’s settings?

Accepted Answer

The server owner, anyone with Administrator or Manage Server, and members with a Kovu manager role you pick in Bot Settings.

Can I use prefix commands instead of slash commands?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every command also works with a prefix, ? by default, and you can change the prefix or mention Kovu instead.

I’m moving from Dyno. What should I do first?

Accepted Answer

Add Kovu, set your moderator and manager roles in Bot Settings, then turn on the modules you used in Dyno. Command names match Dyno’s, so your team keeps typing what they know. Remove Dyno when you’re happy, so both bots don’t answer the same commands.

What can members do on kovu.gg?

Members sign in with Discord to see their level, balance, reminders, highlights, tickets and appeals in each server they share with Kovu, and to manage their reminders and highlight words.

How do I hide from public leaderboards?

Accepted Answer

Sign in, open Privacy and data from your profile and turn on "Hide me from public leaderboards". Your XP still counts; you just don’t appear on public web pages. It can take a minute for cached pages to update.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Privacy and data has a Download my data button that saves everything Kovu stores about you as a JSON file.

Can I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Delete my data removes your XP, balances, reminders, highlights and settings in every server at once. Records servers keep for safety, like moderation cases and tickets, stay with those servers; ask their staff about them.

Question 12

Kovu isn’t responding to commands. What should I check?

Accepted Answer

Check that the module is turned on in the dashboard, that the command isn’t disabled or restricted in Commands, and that Kovu can see and send messages in the channel. The status page at status.kovu.gg shows whether Kovu is connected to Discord.

Question 13

Why can’t Kovu give or remove a role?

Accepted Answer

Discord only lets a bot manage roles below its own highest role. In Server Settings → Roles, drag the Kovu role above the roles it should manage.

Question 14

Why does a deleted message show no text in the log?

Accepted Answer

Kovu remembers recent messages so it can show them after they’re deleted. Messages sent before Kovu joined, or while it was restarting, can’t be shown.
